PRAISE GEMS – DON’T BE WISE IN YOUR OWN EYES

Proverbs 3:7
Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.

Whiles doing first degree, we had the option either to write long essay or not, like most of my mates, I gladly chose not to, little did I know that I will cross this bridge at the post graduate level.

Hmm, the concept of being wise in one’s own eyes is a very dangerous path to walk on.

It is when a person seem to believe that he is being smart in some choices and yet not knowing, he is digging his own hole of destruction.

So the wiseman is admonishing us strongly: Do not be wise in your own eyes but fear the Lord and shun evil.

For example, social media is making many people act wise in their own eyes painting a picture of a world which does not exist in reality.

Image result for Proverbs 3:7That is why a husband might be beating his wife at home but on social media write about his wife as if she is the most expensive gem on earth – You are being wise in your own eyes.

You keep borrowing little by little from your friends but you never pay thinking they are your friends – You are being wise in your own eyes.

Mr. Preacher, you have just downloaded the sermon on the net without any modification and preached it as if it’s your own Rhema, you are being wise in your own eyes.

Young lady, you know he is not your kind of man, why are you leading him on as if he is the best thing to ever happen to you, you are being wise in your own eyes.

It’s obvious that political party is not where you want so why hail the presidential candidate like that, you are being wise in your own eyes.

Listen beloved, the standards of godliness are high and we cannot circumvent God’s principles.

Let us be careful in our choices by placing them under the lenses of God’s microscope that we may please him in every way.

Remember, do not be wise in your own eyes. Selah
