2John 1:8
Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.
One of the key signs many people are mindful of is any sign which reads danger or watch out.
Normally, one would want to tread cautiously in and around such environments. Moreover safety precautions would be taken to forestall any inconveniences.
So the Apostle John is admonishing believers to watch out so we do not lose what we’ve worked for.
Beloved what have we worked for? Primarily, our salvation is obtained freely through the act of God’s grace.
But from that moment, we begin to work on this salvation we have obtained through the enabling grace at work in us.
We have also worked to save many from hell fire and rescued several who are perishing.
We have also worked to endure persecution, suffering and in contending for the faith.
All we await is to be richly and fully rewarded by our master who will commend us for our faithfulness and loyal.
Therefore John emphasizes that we watch out because there is the probability of loss and may God forbid that we find ourselves in such situation.
