Psalms 116:8
For you, O LORD, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling,
Auntie May is an elderly woman in one of my churches who typifies the spirit of thanksgiving.
Her sense of gratitude is so endearingly admirable watching her swing her white handkerchief all alone to dance in acknowledgement of God’s great kindness.
A visit to her house one day taught me a lesson because a cursory look at her residence vis-à-vis her spirit of appreciation did not match up from a face value perspective.
Obviously, her passion to show gratitude was driven by the fact that God is her father and like the Psalmist consistently delivers her soul from death, eyes from tears and feet from stumbling.
Beloved, today, we draw the curtains to the 4th month of the year.
Did you imagine you could have crossed this bridge all by yourself.
Those torrid moments of pain, anguish, sorrow, threats of death.
Ask how did you survive that heartbreaking news? How did you walk out of that fire of persecution? How did you free your self from those cold hands of temptations?
Re-read the pages of your life these past four months and indeed, you can agree with Aunty May as you allow your gratitude to spring up like a refreshing fountain.
So give thanks to the Lord for he’s good and his mercies endures forever.
Give thanks for your salvation assured. Give thanks for his grace supplied and his faithfulness.
Give thanks for the sunshine of hope and rains of refreshment.
Give thanks for the dews of mercies which are renewed every day.
Give thanks for the awareness of His presence and timely help.
Even when we fail to give Him all the praise, His unconditional, unchanging and unshakable love remains the same.
Indeed, beloved, let our thanksgiving flow in, outflow and overflow.
Lord, we may not have all the words to say what our hearts are expressing but if you never do another thing Lord, we are so so grateful.
SONG
Through out the years
Your faithfulness I’ve seen
You’ve never fail
You’ve proved yourself to be a friend I’ve found whose love endures so merciful to me
With each new day, all I can say
I’m so thankful, so thankful
For all you have done for me
