Psalms 51:12
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
King David was a man with a unique heart. He showed humility in breaking himself at the feet of divinity.
He acknowledged his sins and shortcomings and was always willing to fall prostrate in the Sovereign arms of mercy.
No wonder, we can meditate on his psalms and theologise accordingly.
At this stage, beloved, David had sinned with Uriah’s wife and Prophet Nathan had been sent to convict him.
This humble king seeks forgiveness and wrenches his heart as he hangs on the horns of mercy crying “Restore to me the Joy of Salvation”
For what is joy in the life of a believer who has lost joy in his salvific walk.
That sense of emptiness, dryness and loss of touch.
You observe that the wells of salvation and the fires of revival seem to have gone down
You become out of touch and you struggle in our Father’s presence.
It is in moments like this, you brace all odds to come before God praying “restore, Lord, restore.
How far have you fallen beloved? You may not have reached where David got to.
Thus saith the Lord, you can recover from your fall. He says remember the height from which you have fallen and repent.
For the joy of salvation is the peaceful, restful and tranquil knowledge that He is with you even unto the end of the age.
Please don’t stay in that undesirable state throwing your hands up in despair…you may not be too far from being apostate.
Draw near unto God and he will draw near unto you.
For a broken and contrite spirit, the Lord will not despise.
Restore unto us Lord, the joy of salvation we pray.
SONG
Create in me a clean heart
And purify me, purify me
Create in me a clean heart
So I may worship you
Cast me not away from your presence
Please dont take your Spirit
And restore the joy of salvation
So that I may worship you
