Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved THROUGH FAITH, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
As I keep on studying about our salvation and God’s eternal purpose for us, I keep wondering why we should get confused about our salvation.
Listen the apostles were not confused, Paul wasn’t confused neither was the early church fathers like Polycarp, Jerome, Justyn Martyr.
Fundamentally, it is important to indicate that it is the will of God for every one to be saved (Matt. 28:18-20, 1Tim 2:4, 2Pt 3:9)
That is why we preach the gospel that the righteousness of God will be revealed through faith unto salvation.
Our passage therefore colours the discourse by introducing the element of faith.
For by grace we have been saved through FAITH.
In other words, faith is the channel for the flow of the river of grace.
Faith creates the congenial atmosphere for grace to thrive.
Without faith, grace becomes impotent and dysfunctional.
This means that for grace that brings salvation to be workable, faith must be present to receive that grace.
That is why Christianity is called our walk of faith.
Again that is why a Christian is also known as a believer.
What then is faith? For me, I see faith as a person. His name is Jesus Christ.
Wherefore since we are encompass by a large crowd of witnesses, let us run with patience, the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus; THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH (Heb. 12:1-3)
Beloved, Jesus is our faith for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
What is the word of God? In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.
Jesus is the word and Jesus is our faith. When Jesus is preached, faith is supplied and grace becomes functional.
For we behold his glory, the glory as the begotten of the father full of grace and truth.
May your revelation of Christ ignite your faith this morning.
Listen, you are not the lacking, you are the supplied for.
You are no longer the slave but you are the son
You are no longer dead in your sins but you are alive unto righteousness and raised up, seated in heavenly places.
You cannot to confused. You cannot be distracted. You cannot be misinformed.
Stand therefore in the liberty wherein Christ has set you free and do not be entangled with any yoke of bondage.
May God bring us more understanding in Jesus name.
