Act 2:38

And Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

This is aimed essentially at raising the issues in scripture for deeper engagement and further reflection.

For it is important to understand that the Bible is a complete book which is Christ centred and must be rightly divided if we are to fully enjoy its benefits.

To begin with, let me ask the question? Are you assured of your salvation? What makes you assured? Is your salvation still in tact? How do you know that?

These questions keep coming up every now and then among believers?

And as much as I consider them very important, it is important for us to settle this right so we don’t miss deeper depths of God.

It’s clear from our passage that our walk of faith begins with repentance.

Repentance has to do with a conviction in one’s heart leading to a change of mind.

Repentance lead to a commensurate action, “Lord if I have cheated on any one, I will repay four times” said Zaccheaus.

That is the point of entry. Therefore John appeared to preach repentance, Jesus preached repentance and the early apostles did same.

For it is only when a man truly repents does he set on the journey of his assurance.

For truly repented men like Peter’s hearers would keep asking “what must we do”?

Beloved, have you truly repented? When you heard the gospel, did you truly respond, asking what must you do?

For no one who has responded to the gospel in this way struggles in his mind as to what his salvific position is or not.

Don’t forget we are not talking a time but that point in which man took a firm decision to followJesus with no turning back.

That’s where the story began. Think about beloved.

SING ALONG
Is there a heart that is waiting, longing for pardon from sin
Here’s the glad message proclaiming
Jesus is passing this way

Jesus is passing this way, this way, this way
Jesus is passing this way
He’s passing this way right now.
