1Timothy 1:13-14
Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.
The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
Paul writes to his true son in the Faith, Timothy and in the discourse makes reference to the fact that once he was a blasphemer, persecutor and voilent man but grace was poured on him abundantly.
I believe it was with a heart of gratitude, Paul made that kind of submission recognising the fact that it is just by the abundant grace that saved him from his old person.
Reflecting on the verses, i came to the conclusion that sometimes we need to remind ourselves of who we were until grace changed us.
Paul was not ashamed to name who he was because grace had erased that history.
Many of us have untold stories up our sleeves; murderers, abortionists, immorals, wicked men and women, liars, cheats, adulterers and idolaters.
But the grace of God was poured abundantly for us. Paul says that he acted in ignorance and unbelief but many of us even had our conscience telling us it’s wrong yet we went ahead.
In spite of this, grace has been poured abundantly and mercy was thrown larvishly on us.
Can we therefore determine and purpose that what is past is gone and open to a new page knowing that but for grace, it would have been a different story. Selah
