Romans 5:6
For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Beloved, there is nothing as heartwarming and refreshing as a timely intervention in a moment of crisis.
No wonder it is said a stitch in time saves nine.
For we cannot belabour the point that Christ’s atoning sacrifice on the cross was just too timely.
It was spot on, on point and right on time to satisfy Sovereignty and appease divinity.
So Paul is careful to note that when we were still without strength, Christ died for the ungodly.
Death had numbed us and paralysed us.
We had become helpless bigots, blindfolded with the pleasures of sin.
Helpless viles dancing in the mud of iniquity with no trace of hope.
We were weak, gasping for breadth in the river of condemnation yet we kept drowning and drowning.
But in the fullness of time, God sent his son born of a woman under the law to redeem us under the law and its curse.
Are you ungodly? Are you in any mess? Are you contemplating suicide.
Christ is the rope of hope you can hang on against the gang of sin.
You cannot save yourself by yourself.
You are weak, you are incomplete, you are empty, you are in dark, you are broken, you are helpless but this is the goodnews:
God demonstrated his love towards us in that whilst we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Help came timely and we ought to also respond timely. Selah
