Luke 8:31
Jesus took the twelve aside and told them,’we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled’

Today is Palm Sunday, Christians all around the world will commemorate this day to mark the triumphant entry of our risen Lord to Jerusalem.

Many churches will be decorated with palm fronts and other may even react the whole experience with street processions here and there.

But come to think about it, do we realise that Christ’s entry into Jerusalem was the finality of his assignment – To die.

He entered Jerusalem to die and he set out essentially and basically to do so.

This was what the prophets had seen and written about him and that was the apex of all things.

God had to come as man and die as a substitutionary sacrifice to appease the requirements of the divine court.

He set out to lay his life as a ransom and was intentional about it.

He understood the contents of the package that awaited him in Jerusalem but the hills of calvary was his destination.

He knew that these men who are laying palm fronts and garments for him to ride on would in no time scream “crucify him” but he refused to be disobedient.

Death stared at him but love consumed him and our salvation engaged him.

Disgrace awaited him but our raise engrossed him to make a case before him who judges all things.

Hossana to the One who gave his life a ransom for our sins.

Hossana to the king eternal, immortal and invincible… only wise King who has made us meet to be partakers of his inheritance.

This saviour king is indeed a wonderful saviour.

Happy Palm Sunday
