Luke 1:6-7
And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statuses of the Lord. But they had no child, because Elisabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years.

I want to begin another series entitled “LENSES OF LUKE”, my intention is for us to look through the lenses of this beloved physician as he gave an orderly account of the gospel and pick useful lessons in our walk with Elohim.

Amazingly, Luke begins his comprehensive account with the story of this amazing couple: Zechariah and Elizabeth, hence our theme: “Fruitful Yet Fruitless”.

According to the passage, Zechariah and Elizabeth were members of the priestly clan, following ALL commandments and statutes of the Lord.

This shows that spiritually, they were fruitful. They had deepened their walk with God and surrendered totally to Him.

They had constant fellowship with Elohim and had the tag, the righteous ones on them.

Image result for zechariah and elizabethHowever, they had an undesirable situation; Elizabeth was barren and age had caught up on both of them.

For Zechariah meant the Lord remembers and Elizabeth meant the oath of God.

Therefore if the Lord remembers his oath, one may ask why are they unfruitful despite their spiritual fruitfulness.

Beloved, that is the question many of us ask when after having done all, our conditions seem unchanged.

No wonder David prophesied, My God, my God why has thou forsaken me?

For I could imagine how it felt for Zechariah and his wife after living such righteous life and yet experiencing such unfavourable condition.

Where is God who said the righteous shall flourish like a palm tree.

Where is God who said the righteous shall not be forsaken and his children beg for bread.

Where are all the promises which are in Him, yes and amen?

Beloved, have you come to such a point in your walk with him? Do you sometimes give up on God and no longer have strength to find faith in him? Does this whole Christian walk sometimes seem illogical to you?

Yes you have a point, sometimes it does not make sense but like the Psalmist, when our heart seems overwhelmed, may God lead us to a rock that is higher than us. Selah.

Today, you are unfruitful and barren but stay in your line of duty for your moment of abundance is much closer than you think.

Enjoy church

SING ALONGĀ
God is able to do
Just what He says He will do
He’s gonna fulfill every promise to you
Don’t give up on God cause He won’t give up on you
He’s able
