Nehemiah 1:4
So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.

Hanani had just informed Nehemiah that the survivors of the invasion are in distress, the walls of Jerusalem are broken and gates burned with fire.

This was not a heartwarming news. It was not a refreshing nor a palatable report.

It was the kind of message that breaks the heart and drains the soul.

Beloved, it’s the 4th day of November, what have you heard?

For when Nehemiah heard these words, he sat down, wept and fasted in prayer for days.

This is what I call the Nehemiah Principle to Crises Management.

Listen, dont beat yourself when you have to cry because of a crises you are going through.

As humans, many times we all do too when we are so consumed in pain, distress and anguish.

But dont stop there, sit before God in fasting and prayer.

James notes that is any man troubled, let him pray (James 5:13)

Nehemiah cried, wept and was broken but strengthened himself in prayer and fasting.

Listen, the only workable antidote to the attacks of life is prayer and fasting.

What consultations are unable to deal with, apply the balm of prayer and see the outflow of incredible results.

What have you heard beloved: Is it the loss of a loved one, the detection of a medical condition, a downward review of your job conditions, poor ministerial results, a family crisis or a financial downturn.

Sit down and weep if need be but dont remain there, rise up, fast and pray….lay it on the altar and let the fire of grace consume that request.

When Nehemiah prayed, he got results and yours won’t be different.

Rise up and get on your knees beloved in prayer.

SING ALONG
Are we weak and heavy laden
Cumbered with a load of care
We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share
Jesus knows our every weakness, take it to the Lord in prayer
