Nehemiah 1:1

The story of Nehemiah offers us very insightful and heart warming lessons of the providence of God in the lives of those who fear him.

As a result of Israel’s disobedience, God had sold them into the hands of the Assyrians, Babylonians and Persians.

At this stage, Israel had been sold to the Persians and all had been taken to exile, Nehemiah inclusive.

Suffice to say that as a slave, one would have expected Nehemiah to be working on the farmlands and plantations of Persia.

He could also be on the mountains of Persia crushing rocks and quarrying stones.

But in the case of Nehemiah, the story was different and that shall be your story this month.

He was a slave but he resided in the citadel, a place of honour, influence and prominence.

He was a slave with a portfolio of grandeur.

He was a slave extraordinaire, a slave par excellence no wonder he walked in the gardens of greatness.

Beloved, this shall be your story in this month of comfort.

You are a nobody but suddenly you will roll with those who call the shots.

I see a subordinate conferring with management on strategic issues in your company and making relevant submissions to the impression of bosses.

I see an office cleaner offering useful counsel to the CEO.

In this month, like the akan proverb, “your mouth will reach the market” and you too will have a voice.

For there will be an unusual aura which would qualify the unqualified and position the undeserving.

Indeed, slaves will ride on horses with kings and it won’t be an error in Jesus name.
